California Penal Code §134 makes it illegal to prepare falsified documents with the intent to use it for a fraudulent purpose during any legal proceeding. The best course of action is to always provide truthful, unaltered documents when providing official documentation to any public officer.

§134 Every person guilty of preparing any false or ante-dated book, paper, record, instrument in writing, or other matter or thing, with intent to produce it, or allow it to be produced for any fraudulent or deceitful purpose, as genuine or true, upon any trial, proceeding, or inquiry whatever, authorized by law, is guilty of felony.

- Digitally altering receipts to show something different from the original or falsifying hospital records and providing them to court as evidence.
